Client and subscription setup
X5VPN Setup Guide
Set up your account and connection, step by step.
For your first time, set up your account and subscription in the account panel, then import the configuration on your device. This guide follows that workflow and explains where to find each option and how to confirm it worked. If you already have a subscription, skip to the client import section.
Client interfaces vary. Terms such as “configuration,” “subscription,” and “import from link” refer to similar features; not every version uses the same labels. Follow the client instructions in your account panel and the prompts on your device. There is no need to switch apps just to find a button with exactly the same name.
Create an account and save your sign-in details
Select “Start Free” below to open the X5VPN account panel, then follow the prompts to choose a username and password. No email address is required, so make sure to save your sign-in details somewhere secure. Use a password you don’t use on other websites. Check for accidental spaces before submitting the form. This creates an account for managing subscriptions, orders, and clients; it does not activate a paid plan.
After submitting the form, follow the on-screen instructions to open the account panel. If you already have an account, use the sign-in option instead of creating another one. Once signed in, confirm that you’re using the right account before choosing a plan—especially on shared browsers or devices where you’ve switched accounts. If your username is unavailable or your password is rejected, check the prompt near the field and update the relevant entry.
You’re done with this step when you can open the account overview and find the plan, downloads, and support ticket sections. Continue from here to manage purchases, copy your subscription, and download a client. Keep the panel open so you can return to it easily while switching between your client and browser.
Choose a plan and check your order status
Open the plans section in the panel and consider how you’ll use the service. For regular work, browsing, or video streaming, compare monthly plans by data allowance: ¥9.9/month includes 60GB, ¥18/month includes 250GB, and ¥28/month includes 500GB. Monthly data resets on your activation date each month; it does not reset for every account at the start of the calendar month. If you’re unsure how much data you need, choose based on your actual usage rather than automatically picking a larger plan.
If your usage is occasional, you can also compare data packages: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, and ¥658/3000GB. Data packages remain available until used and never expire, unlike monthly subscriptions that reset. There is no device limit, but that does not mean data is unlimited; keep an eye on the remaining balance when using the same account across devices. See the pricing page for full billing details.
Before proceeding, check the plan name, price, and billing method on the order, then pay with Alipay, WeChat Pay, or USDT as directed by the panel. Return to the panel after payment to confirm that the order is complete and the subscription is active in your account overview. If the external payment page shows completion but the panel has not updated, check your order history first rather than submitting the same payment again. If you still have questions, contact support through a panel ticket and include the relevant order details.
X5VPN offers a 60-day no-questions-asked refund policy. See the refund policy for how to request a refund. When upgrading a monthly subscription mid-cycle, the price difference is converted into remaining days; review the adjustment shown in the panel before proceeding. Confirm that your subscription is active before getting the link, so you don’t mistake an inactive subscription for a client configuration problem.
Get your subscription and prepare to import it
Return to your account overview and find the subscription options. The subscription link lets your client retrieve available server configurations; it is not a regular webpage to open in a browser. If the panel has an import button for your client, follow the prompts to open it. Otherwise, copy the subscription link and paste it into the client’s configuration screen later.
Before copying, make sure your account is active. Keep the link intact after copying—do not edit its path, parameters, or symbols, and don’t enter it in the client’s username field. Some devices ask whether to open the relevant app after you tap an import button; continue only if it’s the client you intend to use. If the app doesn’t open, paste the link manually instead of repeatedly tapping the button.
Your subscription link is tied to your account access, so protect it like a password. Don’t post it in public forums or send screenshots that show the full link when asking for help. To troubleshoot, you can usually start by sharing your device platform, client name, error message, and subscription status. If you think the link has been exposed, check whether the panel offers a reset option. If not, contact support through a ticket, then update the configuration on your devices.
There is no need to display or enter a public example link here. Only use the subscription details from your own signed-in account panel. Once you have them, leave the overview open and go to the downloads section to get the client for your platform. Linux users can also get a client from the panel; follow the instructions included in the downloads section. The steps below focus on common desktop and mobile devices.
Import the client for your platform
Use the client and instructions provided in the panel’s downloads section. Don’t download software from another source based only on a similar-looking icon. Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux clients are available after signing in; you don’t need a paid plan to download them. You do need an active subscription to connect. For iOS, follow the eligibility instructions in the panel. The goal on every platform is to get your subscription into the client’s configuration list and load the available servers.
Windows: Add a remote subscription
In the panel’s downloads section, select Windows and follow the prompts to get the X5VPN desktop client for your device. After installing and opening it, look for “Configuration,” “Subscription Manager,” or a similar option, then choose the feature for adding a configuration from a link. Paste the full subscription link copied from your account overview. If the client asks for a configuration name, choose one that’s easy for you to recognize; the name won’t change the server settings.
After saving, refresh the subscription as prompted by the client. Wait for the server list to appear, then set that configuration as the active one. If the browser’s import button has already sent the link to the client, return to the configuration page to confirm it was imported; opening the app alone doesn’t mean setup is complete. You may need to grant system permission the first time you connect. Continue only after confirming the prompt is from the client you’re using. Desktop proxy mode is covered later.
macOS: Allow network configuration after importing
Get the macOS client for your device from the panel, then install and open it. Go to the configuration or subscription section, use the import-from-link option to paste your subscription, save it, and refresh. If the client is primarily controlled from the menu bar, open its menu to find settings and configuration management; not every feature will be in the main window.
Once the server list appears, select the active configuration and enable the connection as directed by the client. macOS may ask to allow a network configuration or grant permission to a related network component. Read the prompt and follow the instructions for your client. If you’re still unable to connect after granting permission, check the client’s status and error message rather than repeatedly removing system network settings. Seeing a server list confirms that the subscription loaded; you still need to connect and verify access.
Android: Save the subscription and connect
Sign in and open the panel’s downloads section to get the X5VPN Android client. Install it as prompted by Android, then find the configuration, subscription, or add option in the app and choose to import from a link. Paste the copied subscription into the address field, save it, and refresh. If your clipboard now contains something else, return to the panel and copy the link again rather than trying to recreate it from memory.
After the configuration loads, select it, choose a server, and tap the client’s connect control. Android may show a VPN connection request; verify the app source and allow it. Keep the client connected while you switch to the app you want to use and test access. If the connection often drops after you leave the client, check the device’s background activity and battery settings for the app and adjust them as prompted, rather than assuming the subscription has expired.
iOS: Check eligibility before importing your subscription
Select iOS in the panel’s downloads section and read the client access instructions shown there. The iOS access option is available to users with a paid, unexpired plan; follow the eligibility information in the panel. If eligible, get the client through the App Store link provided in the panel. If you can’t access the link yet, return to the overview and check your plan status. Don’t assume that software from another source is an X5VPN client.
Open the client and use the import-from-link option in its configuration, subscription, or add-configuration screen. If the panel offers an import option for your client, you can also use that to open the app. Confirm that the subscription has refreshed and the server list appears, then select the configuration and connect. When iOS asks to add a VPN configuration, read the request and allow it. Return to the client to check its connection status. There is no need to guess server addresses or authentication settings in iOS Settings; these are provided by the subscription configuration.
Connect to a server and test access
After importing, confirm that the client is using the configuration you just added, not an old or empty one. Choose a region from the server list, then connect. Base your choice on what you need to access. If a service has rules about account region or availability, make sure to follow them. Server names and geographic distance alone can’t determine your experience; check the result on your current network.
Once the client shows as connected, open the website or app you actually need and check that pages load, sign-in works, and the service is usable. A VPN icon alone doesn’t confirm that every app is using the connection. Some desktop clients also require system proxy settings or a network interception mode. If a browser works but another app doesn’t, check those modes and the app’s own network settings before trying another server.
For your first setup, start with the mode recommended in the client’s instructions. Rule-based routing handles different requests according to its rules, while global mode changes the route for more requests; check the client’s documentation for the exact names and behavior. After changing modes, reopen the target page or app to test again. Avoid changing the server, mode, and configuration all at once, or it will be hard to tell what made a difference. Streaming and AI tools may also be affected by platform policies, account requirements, and how the exit IP is identified. A successful connection does not guarantee access to every service.
If it still doesn’t work, first check in the panel that your plan is active and has data remaining, then refresh the subscription in your client. Once the configuration loads, try another server and confirm that your local network is working. If another tool on your device is also managing network traffic, temporarily disable it and test again. When you see a specific error, save the text; it’s more useful for troubleshooting than repeatedly uninstalling the client.
For account, connection, and speed issues, see the FAQ. To learn about server types, billing options, and device sharing, continue to the service selection guide. There’s no need to master every technical detail during initial setup. If you still need help, open a support ticket in the panel and include your device platform, client, the step where the issue occurred, and what you’ve tried. Before attaching screenshots, hide your password, full subscription link, and other sensitive account details.
Setup complete: Your subscription is active in the panel, the client can refresh the server list, and the website or app you need works after connecting. Repeat the client download and import steps for each additional device. There is no device limit, but each device still needs to be configured and tested separately.
